La Conchiglia

La Conchiglia is a restaurant and pizzeria in Tonnarella, the coastal part of the municipality of Furnari in the province of Messina. It has been in business since 1977, and the year is part of its full name: “Ristorante Pizzeria La Conchiglia dal 1977”.

The cooking is Mediterranean, with pizza and seafood dishes as the core of the menu. Guests can sit inside or outdoors. Current menu, opening times and reservations are best asked directly at the restaurant.

Tonnarella lies on the Gulf of Tindari, which stretches from the Milazzo peninsula in the east to the Tindari headland in the west. Across the water are the Aeolian Islands. The holiday resort of Portorosa, further along the coast, belongs to the same municipality, Furnari.

Around the gulf you find sandy beaches, the hills of Furnari inland and the Sanctuary of Tindari, one of the best-known places on the north coast. The restaurant works as a stop after a day on the beach or on the way along the coast road.
